QR codes are everywhere in Singapore and Malaysia. You’ll see “PayNow” and “DuitNow” at hawker stalls, cafés, taxis, and small shops. The catch: many visitors assume these work like universal travel wallets. They don’t.

This guide explains PayNow vs DuitNow, and what payment methods actually work for tourists who don’t have local bank accounts or local phone numbers—so you can enjoy cashless payments in SG & MY without checkout surprises.

💡For a broader comparison of cross-border transfer options, see our full guide on sending money from Singapore to Malaysia.

What Are PayNow and DuitNow?

PayNow (Singapore) is an electronic funds transfer service that lets you send and receive SGD using a proxy such as a mobile number, NRIC/FIN, UEN (businesses), or a Virtual Payment Address (VPA). In practice, you use PayNow through a participating Singapore bank (or eligible e-wallet provider) via their mobile/internet banking app.

DuitNow (Malaysia) is Malaysia’s real-time payments service. It supports instant transfers using a DuitNow ID and merchant payments via DuitNow QR, accessed through participating Malaysian banks’ online banking apps and supported e-wallets.

📌Tourist-friendly summary: both systems are built around local bank/e-money accounts, not “download-and-go” travel apps.

Can Tourists Use PayNow in Singapore?

For most short-term visitors, not directly.

To receive PayNow transfers, the recipient needs a Singapore bank account with a PayNow-participating bank and must have registered a PayNow proxy (e.g., mobile number or NRIC/FIN).

For QR payments, one clear example is IRAS’s PayNow QR option (used to pay certain Singapore taxes): it requires a Singapore bank account and PayNow registration, and IRAS notes PayNow QR is not available for overseas bank accounts. The takeaway for tourists is simple: PayNow QR is designed for local banking, not for visitors paying from an overseas account.

If you’re a tourist without a Singapore bank account (and usually without a FIN), treat PayNow as “locals-first.”

PayNow for Tourists: The One Scenario It Matters

If you’re a “tourist” but you already have a Singapore bank account (for example, you work/study in Singapore or visit frequently), PayNow will work for you the same way it works for locals. Otherwise, plan as if you can’t use it.

Can Tourists Use DuitNow in Malaysia?

DuitNow is also largely account-linked.

PayNet’s official support says DuitNow Transfer is for individuals with Malaysian bank or e-money accounts.

You may read that DuitNow IDs can include different identifiers (including, in some contexts, passport numbers). But to actually use DuitNow (transfer or QR), you still need access through a participating Malaysian bank app or e-wallet.

DuitNow for Tourists: The One Scenario It Matters

If you already have Malaysian banking or an eligible Malaysian e-money account, DuitNow QR can be a convenient everyday option. If you don’t, assume DuitNow is “nice to have” but not something you’ll rely on.

🔍Curious which digital banks Malaysians actually use? See our guide to the Best Digital Banks in Malaysia.

QR Code Acceptance vs Usability: A Key Tourist Payment Trap

QR acceptance = the merchant displays PayNow QR / DuitNow QR because locals use it.

QR usability = you have an eligible app/account that can complete the payment.

In Singapore, PayNow QR payments are made in a PayNow-capable mobile banking app and require you to have signed up for PayNow (linked an eligible proxy to your bank/e-wallet account).

You may see SGQR, a single label that shows multiple QR payment options a merchant accepts. If PayNow is one of those options, you can use it—but tourists still need at least one payment method they’re eligible for.

In Malaysia, DuitNow QR similarly depends on you using a participating bank or e-wallet app (and the merchant being set up to accept DuitNow QR).

📌At the counter, use this rule of thumb:
If the QR is for PayNow or DuitNow and you don’t already have the right banking app setup, don’t “fight the QR.” Ask to pay by card, or pay cash.

How to Pay in Singapore as a Tourist

1) Use contactless cards as your default. International cards (and phone wallets linked to them) are commonly accepted at malls, supermarkets, attractions, hotels, and many eateries—but smaller stalls may be cash-only.

2) Public transport: tourist-friendly tap options exist. SimplyGo states its travel options serve both residents and tourists, and you can pay using stored-value travel cards, contactless bank cards, or the Singapore Tourist Pass.

3) Carry a small cash buffer. Some small stalls may prefer cash or local QR—even if most of your trip is card-only.

How to Pay in Malaysia as a Tourist

In Malaysian city centres you’ll find lots of card and QR acceptance, but the “cash backup” rule matters more here.

Cards: hotels, malls, supermarkets and many restaurants accept them.
Cash: useful for night markets, small eateries, and certain low-cost transport situations.

If your goal is “no friction,” assume you’ll use cards + cash as your core toolkit, and treat DuitNow QR as a bonus when you’re already eligible for it.

Cross-Border Payments Between SG and MY: What Tourists Need

People often hear “PayNow and DuitNow are linked” and assume they can use them anywhere. There are two different cross-border features.

1) Cross-border QR payments (for shopping)

MAS and Bank Negara Malaysia announced a cross-border QR payment linkage on 31 March 2023, allowing customers of participating financial institutions to pay by scanning NETS QR and DuitNow QR codes.

Example: DBS says PayLah! users can pay Malaysian merchants via DuitNow QR and see the MYR price, exchange rate, and SGD amount in-app.

PayNet also describes cross-border QR payments as a travel feature and notes no registration is required—availability depends on whether your bank/e-wallet app supports cross-border scan-and-pay.

How to interpret this as a tourist:

If you’re a Singapore resident visiting Malaysia, check whether your bank/wallet supports scanning DuitNow QR (some do).

If you’re a Malaysian resident visiting Singapore, check whether your bank/wallet supports scanning NETS QR.

If you’re visiting from elsewhere, don’t assume your home wallet is supported. Treat “QR payment Singapore Malaysia” as something that may work only with specific partner apps.

2) Cross-border fund transfers (sending money to a person)

PayNet’s cross-border fund transfer feature lets Malaysians send money to Singapore using the recipient’s PayNow-registered mobile number or VPA. Banks also show a masked version of the recipient’s name during the lookup to help prevent mistakes.

Tourist reality check: these cross-border features mainly help travellers who already bank in Singapore or Malaysia. They don’t turn PayNow or DuitNow into universal tourist apps.

Common Tourist Payment Mistakes in Singapore and Malaysia

Even in two of Southeast Asia’s most cashless-friendly destinations, tourists still run into payment issues because local rules matter more than technology.

Assuming any QR works: PayNow/DuitNow QR are local rails; if you don’t have an eligible app, switch to card or cash.

Bringing no cash: keep a small buffer, especially in Malaysia.

Misdirected transfers: verify the recipient name shown in-app before you confirm; PayNet explicitly recommends this and notes that DuitNow’s Name Enquiry feature shows the registered name.

Forgetting FX basics: if you’re using cards abroad, expect your bank/card network to convert currency; keep an eye out for options at the terminal that look like “pay in your home currency,” which may come with extra charges.

A Simple Payment Plan for Tourists in SG and MY

Before you fly:

Ensure your card supports overseas tap-to-pay and set a backup payment method (second card or some cash).

Add your card to your phone wallet if you use one.

If you’re a Singapore/Malaysia resident and want to try cross-border QR, check your bank app’s official help pages first.

On the trip:

Main method: contactless credit/debit card + phone wallet

Backup: some cash (more important in Malaysia)

Transport in Singapore: SimplyGo-supported options (contactless cards, stored-value travel cards, or the Tourist Pass)

PayNow / DuitNow: “nice if you already have it,” not something to depend on

Final Verdict: PayNow vs DuitNow for Tourists Explained

“PayNow vs DuitNow” isn’t really a competition for tourists. Both are excellent local payment networks, but they’re not built as plug-and-play travel wallets. For most visitors, the safest approach is simple: cards first, cash backup, and don’t assume local QR is usable unless you already have local banking access or a supported cross-border partner app.

FAQs: PayNow vs DuitNow for Tourists (SG & MY)

1) Can tourists use PayNow to pay in Singapore?

Usually no—PayNow is tied to Singapore bank accounts and is mainly used through local banking apps. Most short-term tourists won’t have the required setup.

2) Can foreigners or tourists register for PayNow with a passport or foreign phone number?

No. A passport is not a PayNow proxy. PayNow registration is tied to having a Singapore bank account, and commonly uses proxies such as a mobile number or NRIC/FIN.

Some banks allow a foreign mobile number to be used as the PayNow proxy if it is registered with the bank, but this still requires an active Singapore bank account—something most short-term tourists won’t have.

3) Can I pay a PayNow QR code using an overseas bank account or non-Singapore bank app?

No. PayNow (including PayNow QR) is designed for local SGD payments between participating banks in Singapore. You cannot pay a PayNow QR code directly from an overseas bank account or a non-Singapore bank.

4) If I see a PayNow QR / SGQR sticker, does that mean I can scan and pay as a tourist?

Not necessarily. QR acceptance just means the merchant supports that rail. Usability depends on whether you have a supported local banking/wallet setup that can execute the payment.

5) Can tourists use DuitNow QR in Malaysia?

Only if you already have access via a participating Malaysian bank or e-wallet. DuitNow Transfer/QR is designed to work through local banking or wallet apps.

6) Do I need to register for DuitNow Transfer?

PayNet states you don’t need to register to send money, but to receive funds you’ll typically complete a one-time registration to link your ID to a bank account or eWallet. (You still need a participating app/account to use it.)

7) I heard DuitNow can use a passport number—does that mean tourists can use it easily?

Usually no. DuitNow QR payments normally require access through a participating Malaysian bank or e-wallet.

However, in some cases, tourists may be able to pay by scanning a DuitNow QR code if their home bank or wallet app supports Malaysia’s cross-border QR payment arrangements. This depends entirely on app and bank participation, so it should not be relied on as a primary payment method.

8) What should I do if a stall or small shop says “PayNow only” or “DuitNow only”?

Don’t try to force it. Ask if they accept card (tap) or cash. If not, you may need to pay cash elsewhere—this is exactly why tourists should always carry a small backup amount.

9) Can Singapore visitors pay Malaysian merchants by scanning DuitNow QR?

Sometimes. Singapore and Malaysia launched cross-border QR payments connectivity (NETS QR ↔ DuitNow QR) for customers of participating financial institutions—so it can work if your bank/wallet app supports it.

10) Does cross-border QR mean any tourist can use PayNow/DuitNow in both countries?

No. Cross-border QR helps certain users pay across borders with supported apps, but it doesn’t turn PayNow/DuitNow into universal tourist wallets. It still depends on your bank/wallet participation.

11) Can I use PayNow to send money to an overseas bank account?

No—PayNow is for SGD transfers between FAST-participating banks in Singapore.

12) If I’m not a tourist (e.g., student/worker) and I have a Singapore bank account, can I use PayNow?

Yes—banks note that a payee can receive PayNow as long as they have a Singapore bank account with a participating bank and have registered their mobile number or NRIC/FIN as a PayNow proxy.

The constant surge in air fare is already making travel and vacation impossible for people like me who like to explore a new city and a country every year. Earlier, I could plan a vacation once a year, but things have not been the same post-COVID.

The surge in ticket prices never stopped me from taking a vacation, but I always tried to keep the travel expenses low so I could invest more in my travel experiences.

While I was planning for another vacation to Paris from New York, I came across Norse Atlantic Airways, which was offering a price lower than most of the airlines I usually travel with. Naturally, I wondered how is Norse Atlantic Airways compared to other airlines, so I was compelled to check the website in case it was real, and I landed on their homepage, and it was very real.

I did hear about this airline in the past, but never gave much attention because they were known for their budget-friendly flight operation in the USA and some parts of Europe, and started their full-fledged flying operation in 2022. Without thinking much, I grabbed the offer of paying $600 for a round trip and was prepared to compromise on certain things, considering the price.

Here, I would like to share my detailed Norse Atlantic Airways Reviews for anyone who might be wondering is Norse Atlantic Airways good and looking to fly with them as a budget-friendly option.

Don’t stop here! Discover what flying with other airlines is really like!

✈️Condor Airlines Review, ✈️Turkish Airlines Review, ✈️Flair Airlines Review

Booking Tickets

I booked my tickets directly from their official website to avoid paying any additional cost to any third-party app, and they have both a website and an app. In my case, I wanted more clarity, so I used the website.

The interface is clear and is not crowded. You can simply book the tickets by selecting dates, destination, seats, and add-ons, and complete the transaction. The problem you might face while selecting the tickets that include checked-in baggage.

Though the entire flight has economy seating with no business class, there are three divisions: Economy Light, Economy Classic, and Economy Flextra. Economic Light is the most basic division and comes with no perks. You can carry only one carry-on item and no preference items or food.

Economy Classic can be said to be the regular package as compared to other airlines, as it offers one checked baggage and one meal. The most premium class is the Economy Flextra, and it allows checked-in baggage, seat preference, included meals, priority boarding, and cancellation with a refund.

The flight is a good choice only if you are planning to book a ticket early and don’t intend to change the dates later, because even with access to the Economy Flextra, you will have to pay a cost to make the changes.

I opted for Economy Classic because I was travelling for 7-8 hours and had a trip planned, so I wanted to carry checked baggage.

Check-In and Baggage

My most frustrating part was the check-in because they don’t allow online check-in, and every passenger has to wait in the long queue. If they allowed online check-in, ample time would be saved. The long, tiring check-in process also delayed the take-off time by 30 minutes.

The baggage weighing policy and allowance are strict, and you can’t pass through with an additional 1 gram of weight. Make sure not to over pack more than the mentioned limit, because then you might end up paying a hefty additional cost at the airport.

Passengers flying in Economy Flextra had the extra liberty of priority boarding. The rest had to wait in the queue to get on the flight, which again was a time-consuming process.

In-Flight Amenities

Starting with the seating, it was neither too great nor too bad. The Premium Economy, which is the Economy Flextra, had a great seating area with ample space, so next time, while booking tickets; I will go for the Premium class.

As a standard, all seats came with a tray and a pouch. They also have TVs equipped with the seats, with a good collection of movies and other content, but some of the seats were missing headphones, and the staff couldn’t provide those even after boarding the flight. Luckily, my headphones were working, so I could manage spending 7-8 hours flying.

They also don’t offer Wi-Fi.

Food and Drinks

As I have mentioned earlier, the most basic Economy tickets didn’t come with any complimentary meal. I was flying with Economy Classic, so I had one meal included, and no, it wasn’t a gourmet dining, but was a simple pre-packed meal which was warm enough to eat. You also get dessert and complimentary drinks (not alcohol). All in all, the meal was good to fill your stomach.

In case you feel hungry on a flight, you do have an option of purchasing meals and drinks, but it will cost you a lot, almost three to four times the actual price. To avoid paying so much for food, you should either bring your food and water or stick to options like cup noodles.

Unlike many international flights, you don’t get served with alcohol, so don’t come with any sort of expectation on that.

Should You Fly with Norse Atlantic Airways

If you are like me, someone who would do anything to save huge money from spending on flights and other transportation, then Norse Atlantic Airways is a great option, as they literally offer tickets at half the price compared to other airlines.

But, if you are someone who wants fair comfort and other amenities, Norse can be a good choice only if you opt for Premium seating that comes with every basic and a few extra amenities. Even though you will be paying extra for the premium class, you will still be paying less than for the other flights.

My Overall Experience – Is Norse Atlantic Airways Good

My experience of flying with Norse Atlantic Airways was neither good nor bad. I was determined to compromise on certain things, like in-flight entertainment and food options, but the price I paid was still justified the services. I will fly with them again, but only in their Premium class.

Finding the right flight is an unending loop, and being a regular traveller, I understand this pain very well. Not just finding the right flight, but fitting it into your budget is always the priority for many passengers. I might have found an airline that is one of the few to offer the cheapest ticket fare, and that is Flair Airlines.

This airline grabbed my attention because it was marketed as the new ultra-cheap Canadian airline, and I thought of giving it a try. It mainly operates in Canada and is expanding its services slowly in the USA.

As I was travelling in the off-season from Montreal to Toronto, I thought of taking this flight to gain a new experience and might not have to deal with the crowd. I paid about $72 for the round trip, which was way too low when compared to other airlines.

Based on my real-time experience in the flight and other services, I am sharing my detailed flair airlines reviews to help everyone decide to book their tickets with them or not, and whether the cheap price makes up for the overall experience you receive right from the booking to reaching your destination.

✈ Looking for more?
Booking Tickets Online

Well, there are third-party apps like Skyscanner and others to book the online tickets, but I preferred booking the ticket from their website to grab the cheapest price. There is only an option of Economy class seating, leaving no room for confusion.

I could easily book my tickets, and they kept on taking me to the next section, like dates, destination, and the passenger’s details. It was smooth to book the flight, and the clear interface makes it easier for anyone to navigate through the website.

The basic fare you see on the site doesn’t include seat selection, and you even have to pay extra for check-in baggage, which may come as a shock to many, as it did to me. Everything else, like a seat with extra leg space and priority boarding, comes at a cost. I skipped choosing the seating option and let the airlines allot me one.

There is also an option of buying a “travelflex,” which may cost you an additional $10. It will allow you to change your flight if you are unable to board on the allotted date and time. It can only be availed at the time of booking tickets. The check-in option becomes available 24 hours before the boarding.

Boarding and Check-In

I would advise everyone travelling with Flair Airlines for online check-in because if you do it at the airport, you will have to pay an extra $25. I arrived 90 minutes before the boarding time to avoid any hassle that may occur.

Important💡: baggage rules on Flair Airlines are strict. At check-in, there’s a baggage measurement stand to check your bag size. If it doesn’t fit, you’ll need to pay extra right away.

The dropping of checked-in bags and the entire check-in process were hassle-free, minus the waiting time that people with no priority boarding have to deal with. There were quite a few spots for dropping your baggage, along with a self-service counter for the same.

The boarding process was also simple and easy, and there were staff members to guide you through the process.

Seating and Comfort

The moment I entered the flight, I couldn’t stop myself from noticing how clean the entire flight was. The seats were all in grey, and the seating arrangement is straightforward and even, without the guidance from the staff, you can easily find your seat.

I found my seat with cramped space, which is a common issue amongst all the airlines, and if someone is tall, it will be difficult to adjust. The seats were just comfortable only when you consider the low-cost price, and they don’t recline too, but they aren’t slim and come with extra padding.

The seats are all equipped with a full-size tray, which is quite larger than the usual tray size of other airlines. All in all, if I judge and make a comparison based on the price I paid, things were good, but a little improvement with leg space will change the experience of the passengers.

In-Flight Amenities

I was not looking forward to any sort of in-flight amenities as I had already read several online reviews stating that there aren’t any. However, in the back of my mind, I was wishing for a miracle in case they changed their policy and introduced some.

As there are no screens attached to any seat, the entertainment option in-flight is NIL. They are also no Wi-Fi connectivity, which means you can’t access anything on your phone or laptop.

Food and Drinks

When travelling with Flair Airlines, keep your expectations for food and beverages low, or better, none. There isn’t any food or drink service on the flight, not even water. It is better to bring your food and water if you are flying for more than a couple of hours, and they encourage you to do the same.

Also, do not buy drinks from outside because they won’t allow you to carry them past the security check. It is better to purchase any drink except water after you have cleared the security check-in.

However, there may be some food options like instant noodles and bottled water available at an extra cost, but there is no guarantee that your flight will offer you the same.

Is Flying with Flair Airlines Worthy?

Well, I would say that I might choose travelling with Flair Airlines again if I have to travel a short distance, but for a flight even longer than 3 hours, I would skip them. For students, families, and friends travelling in packs and on a budget, Flair Airlines is indeed a great option.

My Final Verdict

The overall experience of flying with Flair Airlines was smooth, but I missed my leg space, in-flight food and beverages, and other complimentary services. Again, when I look at the price I paid for travelling a few hours, I would ignore the flaws, but recommend them to improve their services for a better experience.

After a rigorous brainstorming session and online research, I finally decided to book my tickets on Turkish Airlines for my vacation from Istanbul to New York. I have flown the same route quite some times, but this time, I wanted to try something new that has more than the basic amenities and was also within my budget.

I finalized Turkish Airlines after I read several positive reviews online, and the fact that they have been in operation since 1933 and have sustained in the industry for so long caught my attention. It also has flights that fly to many countries, making it easy to find flights available for different countries and cities.

It costed me somewhere $600 to $650 for a round trip in economy class with access to a lot of other benefits. If you are planning to fly the same or any other route, my honest Turkish Airlines review will help you out in making your final decision.

Online Booking Via Website and App

The first thing any passenger has to go through is the step of booking tickets online, and I must say, my experience was a mix of both, good and bad. In my case, I booked my tickets using the website. I will share where I found the things smooth and issues while booking my tickets and other things.

For one way trip, the process is quite smooth and you will be redirected to the selection process one by one, like dates, destination, and possible layovers. In no time, you will make transactions for your tickets. However, if you are selecting multiple cities as a part of your travel itinerary, you might face issues and errors.

Selecting add-on services is also convenient, and you can have a detailed view of each add-on available on the website. Some of these services come for free, while some might charge you an additional cost.

Tickets and Other Pricing

I booked my tickets in economy class, which costed me about $600 to $650 for the round trip from Istanbul to New York. There are three different economy class options like EcoFly, ExtraFly, and PrimeFly.

I selected EcoFly, which is the most basic option of the economy class, and it doesn’t come with the option of selecting a seat. I wasn’t even allowed to get a refund, make changes, or receive any other rewards. For any add-on service, I had to pay an extra charge.

The other two options come with certain benefits. Like ExtraFly has a free seating option, you can make changes, but at an additional cost, you get extra miles, while you are not allowed to cancel and ask for a refund.

The last option and the most premium in the economy class is the PrimeFly. You get to choose your seat for free, can make changes for free, ask for cancellation and refunds, and reissue the ticket to a different date, but that will be subject to the current ticket pricing.

However, while booking the tickets, you will not be shown the price for every step, and the overall price will only be reflected at the last step when you have to make the final payment.

Boarding and Baggage Policies

The very first thing you must keep in mind is that though you will receive a boarding pass on your mobile, you will receive the physical boarding pass from the counter. The international flights don’t accept the boarding pass on a mobile.

Coming to the baggage allowance, for the economy class, the baggage limit differs based on three different classes. As I was travelling with the most basic class, I was allowed 15 kg of checked baggage and 8 kg of cabin baggage.

ExtraFly allows 20 kg of checked baggage and 8 kg of cabin baggage, and the most premium economy class, PrimeFly, allows 25 kg of checked-in baggage along with 8 kg of cabin baggage.

The boarding was quite straightforward forward, and there were different queues for boarding so that passengers didn’t have to wait to get on the flight.

In-Flight Amenities

I found the seating to be comfortable, even for the price I paid. It had ample leg space, which was comfortable for even a 10-hour flight. All seats were equipped with a screen that had quite a few good options for movies and other content.

For the economy class, the internet access had to be purchased, but I skipped that option. Most of the headphones had some issues, so they must improve the quality. Minus the headphones, the rest of the thing made the overall journey a great experience.

The airhostess handed over some basic items like a pillow, toiletries, blankets, slippers, lip balm, a toothbrush, and others after the passengers were seated and comfortable on their seats.

Airhostesses were welcoming and were always quick to address any issues, needs, and queries of the passengers. The bathroom, too, was in quite good condition; definitely good if I compare it with the different airlines I have travelled in.

Food and Drinks

As I was travelling on an international flight, my meals and drinks were free. As soon as I was seated, I was given a free welcome drink, which was the most needed thing after going through the waiting and boarding process.

For food, they have a menu consisting of veg and non-veg meals and mainly Turkish dishes, including some of the standard dishes like pasta and chicken. The meal was flavourful and enough for an individual, with dessert, and everything was great.

However, there is a downside regarding ordering food, like a few passengers didn’t have an option to choose a non-vegetarian meal because they were all out, and they were asked to compromise with the vegetarian options.

My Final Verdict – Is Turkish Airlines Good?

My overall experience of travelling with Turkish Airlines was good, but not great. Some things need improvement, like accommodating the right number of meals as per passengers’ demands and waiving charges for making changes on tickets, like date and name.

But, if I compare it with most of the flights flying the same route, then it is one of the greatest options considering the price.

Flying with a budget airline is not something everyone prefers, but if you are a frequent traveler like me, cheap flight tickets are a savior because you can do something else with the money.

After trying other budget-friendly airlines, I have been obsessed with Breeze Airways since they started operations in 2021. Though it is a fairly new airline, I couldn’t ignore how cheap the airfare is and had to give it a shot to see if it was worth it.

A couple of weeks ago, I booked a flight from New Haven to Orlando for just $39, and let me tell you, the ride was worth it. You may have read Breeze Airways reviews on the internet, but I am here to share my experience with you all, and I promise not to be biased.

Into airline reviews? We’ve got you covered with in-depth takes on Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Condor Airlines.

Convenient Online Booking

Be it a budget-friendly airline or not, I always pay attention to their website or app because that gives you an idea of how well the airlines treat their customers.

If I have to spend forever just trying to check prices or flights, it is honestly, not worth it and leaves a bad impression as well. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case at all with Breeze Airlines despite being a newer airline.

The website is made to ensure that customers find it convenient to navigate through it and get to check the seating options, prices, dates, and flights. The process was so easy that it took me a few minutes to book the tickets without any hurdles.

I also liked how simple it was to make changes later because you can upgrade your seat, use flight credits, or cancel with ease. Not many budget airlines put that much effort into their online system, but Breeze did.

Affordable Prices That Make a Difference

I don’t mind traveling with a budget-friendly airline, and the price was the first reason I wanted to try Breeze Airways so badly. My first flight cost just $39 which is way too cheaper than I expected, but the best part is most of their tickets fall in the $50 to $100 bracket. This means you can travel anywhere in the country without spending too much.

I traveled from New Haven to Orlando for $39 with Breeze Airways while the other airlines charged $50 on the same route, so you can count the difference yourself.

What I liked most is that Breeze airline doesn’t try to act like something they are not and doesn’t throw around fancy terms like “premium” or “luxury” to sell you something basic. You know exactly what you are getting and I really appreciate that about them.

I was flying on a budget, and they made that clear from the start so I knew checked baggage wasn’t free and packed light to avoid any surprises.

Other airlines sometimes try to look more high-end than they really are and that’s actually disappointing, but Breeze flight gives it to you straight. They offer three levels of service, including Nice, Nicer, and Nicest, so you can choose what works for you. I went for the cheapest and still got my money’s worth, so I will surely travel with them again.

Nonstop Flights That Make Travel Easy

While the low price caught my attention, the nonstop flights are what really made me a fan and if you have flown with them before, you probably know direct routes are their strongest selling point.

Like most people, I hate layovers because waiting around in a random airport for God knows how many hours is just not my thing and I will do anything to avoid it. Sometimes you even need to book a hotel if the layover is long and that just adds to your expenditure which is not a good thing for a budget traveller like me.

That’s why Breeze’s nonstop flights were such a relief because I flew straight from New Haven to Orlando in about three hours with no long waits or plane changes on the way. It was a smooth ride for me for which I will give full ratings to Breeze flight.

My In-Flight Experience with Breeze Airways

Now let me tell you about my in-flight experience which I feel were fine compared to the price I paid. Unlike some other airlines, Breeze airline didn’t serve any hot meals or offer pre-ordered food options, instead, they provided a small menu of drinks and snacks you could buy on-board for around $5 each.

The flight was short, but food is something I found was difficult to manage if you have dietary preference. In my suggestion, it will be good if you carry your own food. Another shortcoming that I found is that there wasn’t any built-in entertainment or seatback screen, which is a must if you’re on a long flight.

However, they are at the benefit as most of their flights are pretty short, so it isn’t a big deal to stay without entertainment for a few hours, but if you are like me and enjoy watching something while flying, it’s better to download a movie or some podcasts before time.

In a budget-friendly price, they offer Wi-Fi, which you can use to stream from your own device, but don’t count on it being available on every flight.

Breeze airline has a partnership with Viasat that allows them to provide high-speed internet on the planes, but the availability is not guaranteed. I was lucky enough to board one of the planes with a good connection, so I could access social media and free messages without any issues.

I had booked a “Nicer” fare, which included free Wi-Fi, but if you pick their basic “Nice” fare, you will have to pay $8 to access the internet. Some of their planes are yet to integrate the Wi-Fi system, so you need to be aware of that.

Final Verdict

Anytime you have to take a short flight, Breeze Airways is a great choice because they are not only affordable but also provide good service, except for a few hiccups here and there. From the booking system to fare options and in-flight amenities, everything about Breeze airline is designed for affordability, and the best part, they don’t make false claims.

Hey there, fellow travelers! I recently took a trip from Malaysia to Taiwan and decided to fly with Malaysia Airlines (MAS)—or as the locals call it, MAS. As Malaysia’s national carrier, they pride themselves on top-notch service with their signature Malaysian Hospitality.

Before booking, I had high expectations. MAS has been around since 1947, originally founded as Malayan Airways Limited, so they’ve been in the aviation game for quite some time. That got me thinking—why not write a detailed review, just like I did for Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines? After all, it’s time to see who really deserves the title of Southeast Asia’s airline king!

Plus, MAS is part of the Oneworld alliance, which means they have a pretty extensive network and strong global connections. But did their service live up to the hype?

Spoiler alert: I wasn’t disappointed!

Booking Process & Ticket Pricing

Booking my flight with Malaysia Airlines was a breeze. I hopped onto their official website, which is super user-friendly. All I had to do was enter my travel dates and destination, and voilà! A list of available flights popped up. The whole process was straightforward, and I could even select my preferred seat during booking.

When it came to ticket pricing, I did a bit of comparison. Malaysia Airlines’ fares were competitive, especially considering the services they offer. While budget airlines like AirAsia might have lower base prices, MAS includes amenities like meals and checked baggage in their fares, which can add up with other airlines.

I also noticed that MAS runs promotions from time to time. By keeping an eye on their website or subscribing to their newsletter, you might snag a good deal. Overall, I found the booking process smooth and the ticket pricing fair for the value provided.

Check-in & Boarding Experience

Malaysia Airlines made the whole check-in and boarding process surprisingly smooth. Here’s a quick breakdown of how it went:

Online Check-in: Quick & Easy

I checked in online through the MAS website, and it was a total time-saver. Picked my seat, got my digital boarding pass, and boom—done in just a few clicks. No stress, no long lines. I have also bought a new eSIM card to use during my vacation in Taiwan. It was much easy and convenient to use as compared to changing to a physical SIM card.

At the Airport: Hassle-Free Baggage Drop

KLIA can be overwhelming, but MAS has everything well organized. Since I already checked in online, I headed straight to the self-service kiosks to print my baggage tag. Super easy to use! After tagging my bags, I dropped them off at the counter, where the staff were friendly and efficient. No unnecessary delays—just smooth sailing.

Security & Immigration: No Drama Here

Security and immigration were straightforward. The queues moved at a good pace, and the officers were professional but not overly strict. In less than 20 minutes, I was airside and free to roam the duty-free shops (hello, last-minute snacks!).

Boarding: Organized & On Time

MAS gets a big thumbs-up for its boarding process. They called passengers by seat zones, which meant no unnecessary crowding. The ground staff were polite, and within minutes, I was walking down the jet bridge and into the aircraft.

Cabin Comfort & Seating

I flew on Malaysia Airlines’ Airbus A330-300, which had a 2-4-2 seat layout—great for couples and solo travelers who prefer a window spot.

Seat comfort? Not bad! 32-inch legroom felt decent, and the adjustable headrest, pillow, and blanket added to the coziness. The cabin was clean, and the mood lighting helped set a relaxing vibe.

Each seat had a personal entertainment screen with movies and music, plus USB charging ports to keep devices juiced up. Comfortable enough for the journey, and the extras made it even better! 🚀

MAS Airlines : In-Flight Entertainment & Wi-Fi

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has stepped up its game in keeping passengers entertained and connected during flights. Here’s a snapshot of what I experienced:

In-Flight Entertainment (IFE)

MAS offers a variety of in-flight entertainment options to cater to different preferences. Depending on the aircraft, passengers can enjoy:

Audio Video on Demand (AVOD): Available on Airbus A350-900, A330-300, A330-200, Boeing 737-8, and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, this system provides a selection of movies, TV shows, and music.

Overhead Screens: On Boeing 737-800 aircraft, entertainment is provided through overhead screens.

It’s worth noting that in 2023, MAS began introducing a new system called MHstudio, powered by Viasat, offering over 500 on-demand entertainment options streamed directly to passengers’ personal devices. This system is currently being installed on the Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleets.

Wi-Fi Connectivity

Staying connected in the sky is becoming a norm, and MAS doesn’t disappoint. As of November 1, 2023, the airline provides complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi to all passengers, regardless of cabin class or loyalty tier, on selected widebody aircraft. This service is available on:

6 Airbus A350-900

9 Airbus A330-300

5 Airbus A330-200

The rollout is set to expand to selected narrowbody aircraft in phases.

How to Connect:

Once you’re on board and the aircraft reaches cruising altitude, enable airplane mode on your device and turn on Wi-Fi.

The cabin crew will announce Wi-Fi availability, and you’ll also see an MHconnect sticker in front of your seat if the service is offered on your flight.

Overall: MAS has made significant strides in enhancing the in-flight experience with diverse entertainment options and free Wi-Fi, making journeys more enjoyable and connected.

What I Experienced

MAS definitely puts effort into catering to a wide range of dietary needs. I went with the standard chicken satay meal,(Malaysian barbecue skewer) and it was surprisingly tasty with a decent portion. They also served complimentary drinks like soft drinks, coffee, tea, and juices. The flight attendants were quick, friendly, and happy to provide extra refills. Overall, it’s nice to see MAS maintaining its reputation for serving quality meals, even in economy class! 🍽️✈️\

Cabin Crew Service & Professionalism

One thing Malaysia Airlines is known for is its Malaysian Hospitality, and I definitely felt that throughout the flight. The cabin crew was warm, attentive, and professional, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable.

What Stood Out?

✔ Friendliness – From boarding to landing, the crew greeted passengers with a smile and were genuinely welcoming.
✔ Attentiveness – They checked on passengers regularly and were quick to respond to requests.
✔ Language Skills – The crew spoke English, Malay, and Mandarin, making communication easy for international travelers.
✔ Professionalism – Service was efficient, and they handled passenger requests politely and with patience.
✔ Extra Effort – I noticed they went the extra mile for families with kids, helping with meal setups and keeping little ones entertained.

Malaysia Airlines’ cabin crew really makes a difference in the overall flying experience. They weren’t just there to serve meals and drinks—they genuinely cared about passenger comfort. If you value good service and a welcoming atmosphere, MAS is definitely a solid choice! ✈️😊

Baggage Handling & Arrival Experience

After a smooth flight, it was time for the final part of my journey—landing in Taiwan and picking up my baggage. Here’s how it went:

Baggage Handling

✔ Check-in Baggage Allowance – Economy passengers on Malaysia Airlines usually get 30kg of free checked baggage, which is generous compared to some airlines. Business class gets even more.
✔ Baggage Claim Time – After landing at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, I was pleasantly surprised that my luggage arrived within 10 minutes at the carousel. No long wait—always a win!
✔ Luggage Condition – No damages, no missing bags. Everything arrived just as I packed it.

Arrival & Immigration

✔ Smooth Immigration Process – Since my documents were in order, I cleared immigration within 15 minutes. The lines were well-managed, and the officers were efficient.
✔ Airport Facilities – Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is clean and well-organized, making it easy to find baggage claim and exit points.

Would I Fly with MAS Again?

Absolutely! Malaysia Airlines delivered a solid flying experience from Malaysia to Taiwan. From the smooth check-in process to the friendly cabin crew and comfortable seating, everything felt well-organized and stress-free.

What I Loved

✔ Effortless booking & check-in – Online check-in was a breeze, and the airport process was quick.
✔ Great cabin crew – Friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful.
✔ Complimentary meals & drinks – Tasty and generous portions, even in economy.
✔ Comfortable flight – Decent legroom, clean cabin, and in-flight entertainment.
✔ Reliable baggage handling – No lost or damaged bags, and luggage arrived quickly.

What Could Be Better?

➖ More seat cushioning – For long-haul flights, extra padding would be nice.
➖ Wi-Fi on all flights – Free Wi-Fi is available on selected aircraft, but having it on all routes would be a game-changer.

Final Thoughts

Malaysia Airlines isn’t just another airline—it’s a full-service carrier that delivers quality without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for a reliable, comfortable, and friendly flying experience, MAS is definitely worth considering.

Would I fly with Malaysia Airlines again? 100% yes. ✈️🔥

But there’s another airline that many travelers overlook: Firefly Airlines Malaysia.

Firefly Airlines is a smaller airline that focuses on short-haul and regional flights, mostly within Malaysia and to nearby countries like Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. It’s actually a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, but it runs separately with its own fleet and operations.

But why isn’t Firefly Airlines as well-known as AirAsia or Batik Airlines? And who actually flies with them? In this guide, I’ll break down everything you need to know about Firefly Airlines in 2025, including its routes, ticket prices, onboard experience, and whether it’s worth flying.

Firefly’s Fleet & Aircraft

Firefly Airlines might not have the biggest fleet, but it gets the job done. Right now, they operate two types of aircraft:

1. ATR 72-500 & ATR 72-600

These are the small planes used for short-haul flights. If you’re flying from Subang to Penang, Johor Bahru, or Singapore, you’ll likely be on one of these. They’re quieter and smoother than you might expect, but they don’t have personal entertainment screens.

2. Boeing 737-800 (Jets)

Firefly Airlines brought these in for longer regional routes from Penang, like flights to Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, and Indonesia. These planes are bigger, more comfortable, and have more legroom than the ATRs.

The biggest difference between these two? The turboprops feel more like a quick bus ride, while the Boeing 737 jets feel more like a traditional flight. If you’re flying Firefly Airlines for the first time, knowing which plane you’re on makes a big difference in what to expect.

Route Network & Destinations

Firefly Airlines keeps it simple. They don’t fly everywhere, but they focus on key routes that make traveling easier, especially for business travelers and regional tourists.

Main Hubs

Firefly Airlines operates mainly from two airports:

✈️ Subang Airport (SZB) – The main hub for domestic and short international flights. Super convenient for those living in Kuala Lumpur because it’s closer than KLIA.

✈️ Penang International Airport (PEN) – The base for jet operations, covering East Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Popular Domestic Routes

If you’re flying within Malaysia, these are the most common Firefly Airlines routes:

✅ Subang → Penang, Johor Bahru, Langkawi, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu

✅ Penang → Kota Kinabalu, Kuching (using Boeing 737)

Regional & International Destinations

Firefly Airlines also connects Malaysia to nearby Southeast Asian cities, including:
🌍 Singapore (Seletar Airport, not Changi!)
🌍 Indonesia (Medan, Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru)
🌍 Thailand (Hat Yai, Phuket, Koh Samui)

They don’t fly to Europe, the US, or even many parts of Asia. But if you need a quick and easy flight within Southeast Asia, Firefly Airlines is a solid option.

Firefly vs. Other Malaysian Airlines

Flying in Malaysia usually means choosing between Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, or Firefly. So, where does Firefly Airlines fit in? Let’s compare.

Ticket Prices & Booking Options

Firefly Airlines isn’t the cheapest airline in Malaysia, but it offers good value for money. The ticket prices are usually lower than Malaysia Airlines but higher than AirAsia, mainly because baggage and snacks are included.

How Much Do Firefly Tickets Cost?

Prices depend on the route, but here’s a rough estimate:

Short Domestic (Subang → Penang) : est. RM120 – RM250

Long Domestic (Penang → Kuching): est. RM250 – RM500

Regional (Subang → Singapore): est. RM200 – RM400

Compared to AirAsia, Firefly Airlines may seem slightly more expensive, but with free baggage (15kg) and no hidden fees, it often ends up being cheaper overall.

Where to Book Firefly Flights?

Baggage Policy & Fees

One of the best things about Firefly Airlines is that baggage is included in your ticket price, unlike AirAsia, where you have to pay extra. But there are still some rules you need to know.

Free Baggage Allowance

✅ Checked Baggage: 15kg free for all passengers
✅ Cabin Baggage: 7kg carry-on bag (1 bag + small personal item)

If you’re flying with Boeing 737 jets, Firefly Airlines sometimes offers 20kg free baggage on certain routes, so check when booking.

Onboard Experience & In-Flight Services

Flying with Firefly Airlines is a simple and hassle-free experience, but don’t expect luxury or high-tech entertainment. Since it’s a hybrid airline (somewhere between budget and full-service), you get a few perks without the high price tag.

Seat Comfort & Cabin Layout

✈️ ATR 72 (Turboprop flights)

2-2 seating layout (no middle seats!)

No reclining seats, but decent legroom

Smaller overhead compartments (so pack light!)

✈️ Boeing 737 (Jet flights)

3-3 seating layout, similar to Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air

More legroom than AirAsia, but seats are basic

No seat back screens, but more comfortable than turboprops

👉 If you’re flying on the ATR 72, expect a short, cozy flight. If you’re on the Boeing 737, it feels more like a regular airline exper ience.

In-Flight Refreshments: What’s Included?

Firefly Airlines gives you free light snacks on all flights, which is a nice touch compared to AirAsia, where everything costs extra.

🍪 For short ATR 72 flights: A small snack (cookies or peanuts) and a drink (water or juice)
🍛 For longer Boeing 737 flights: A bigger snack or a light meal on select routes

No full meals, but the free snack is better than nothing!

Entertainment & WiFi

📵 No in-flight entertainment (IFE) – No seatback screens or movies
📶 No WiFi onboard – So download your music, movies, or work before flying
🔋 Charging ports? – Not available on ATR flights, limited availability on Boeing 737 flights

If you need entertainment, bring your own phone, tablet, or book because Firefly Airlines doesn’t provide onboard screens.

Crew & Service Quality

One of Firefly Airlines’s strong points is its friendly and professional cabin crew. Since flights are short, service is quick but efficient. They’re known for being helpful and polite, making the flying experience smooth.

Overall Experience: What to Expect?

✔️ Simple, clean, and comfy short trips
✔️ Free baggage and snacks
✔️ friendly and helpful crew

If you’re looking for a fast, no-fuss flight with free perks, Firefly Airlines is a solid choice. Just don’t expect fancy entertainment or luxury seating—it’s all about convenience and efficiency.

Firefly Airlines: Pros & Cons

Firefly Airlines is a great airline for some travelers, but it may not be the best for everyone. Here’s a simple breakdown of what’s good and what’s not so great about flying with Firefly Airlines.

✔️ Fewer Delays

✔️ Linked to Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich Miles

✔️ Anyone who wants a better experience than AirAsia without paying Malaysia Airlines prices

Not Ideal for:
🚫 Travelers who need long-haul international flights
🚫 People who want WiFi or in-flight entertainment
🚫 Passengers looking for business-class comfort

Final Verdict: Is Firefly Airlines Worth It?

If you’re flying within Malaysia or to nearby ASEAN countries, Firefly Airlines is a great option. It’s cheaper than Malaysia Airlines but gives better service than AirAsia, making it a good middle-ground choice.

However, if you’re looking for international flights, business-class seats, or in-flight entertainment, Firefly Airlines may not be the best fit. But if you need a quick, comfortable, and hassle-free flight, Firefly Airlines is a solid choice. 🚀

FAQ

Does Firefly Airlines offer international flights?

Yes, but only to nearby countries. Firefly Airlines fly to Singapore, Thailand (Hat Yai, Phuket, Koh Samui), and Indonesia (Medan, Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru). No long-haul flights, so if you need to go further, you’ll have to connect through Malaysia Airlines or another airline.

Is Firefly Airlines safe to fly with?

Yes! Firefly is owned by Malaysia Airlines, follows strict safety regulations, and has a good track record. The turboprop planes might feel different, but they are safe and well-maintained.

What’s the difference between Firefly’s turboprop and jet flights?

Turboprop (ATR 72) – Smaller planes, used for short flights, flies lower, and can be noisier. Feels more like a bus ride in the sky.

Jet (Boeing 737) – Bigger planes, used for longer routes, smoother ride, more legroom. Feels like a normal commercial flight.

Does Firefly Airlines allow free seat selection?

Yes, but only for standard seats. If you want extra legroom, you might need to pay. Luckily, since Firefly isn’t a budget airline, you don’t get randomly assigned a middle seat like on AirAsia.

How can I get the cheapest Firefly Airlines tickets?

Book early (1-2 months ahead for lower fares)

Look out for Firefly promotions (flash sales, festive discounts)

Fly on weekdays (weekends and holidays cost more)

Check the official website (www.fireflyz.com.my) for deals

Use Malaysia Airlines Enrich Miles to redeem flights

If you plan ahead, Firefly can be cheaper than AirAsia once baggage and fees are included!

You know that feeling when you’re hunting for the cheapest possible flight and you come across an airfare that feels almost too good to be true? That’s how I first ended up booking with Frontier Airlines. As someone who loves to travel on a budget (and I mean serious budget), I couldn’t resist their rock-bottom prices. But, of course, I had questions—what’s the catch? Is it worth it? Will my seat even have padding? So, I packed my carry-on (and my curiosity) and set off to see what Frontier Airlines is all about. Spoiler alert: there’s a lot to unpack here! Let’s dive in.

If you’r interested in stories about other airline, be sure to look up our Singapore Airline and Emirates Airline.

Frontier Airlines Keeps Travel Affordable : Booking and Pricing

When it comes to booking a flight with Frontier Airlines, the process is straightforward, but the pricing structure requires a bit of strategy. On the surface, their ultra-low fares can feel like a steal, but it’s important to understand how the add-ons work. Frontier operates on a pay-for-what-you-use model, meaning the base fare only covers your seat and a personal item. For everything else—like bags, seat selection, or even snacks—you’ll need to shell out some extra cash.

To help you make sense of it all, here’s a handy comparison table outlining what’s included in the base fare and what costs extra:

For budget-conscious travelers, the Discount Den Membership is a great option. At $59.99 annually (source: Frontier Airlines’ website), it unlocks exclusive deals, including the popular “Kids Fly Free” promo—a game-changer for families. Another option is the WORKS Bundle, which covers seat selection, baggage, and flight flexibility, making it ideal for those who want an all-inclusive experience without breaking the bank.

Personally, I opted for just the base fare and a personal item to keep costs low. Sure, I had to skip the frills, but the savings were worth it. If you’re strategic about what you pack and don’t mind sacrificing a little comfort, Frontier’s pricing can work in your favor. Just plan ahead and use the table above to weigh your options—it’ll save you from any surprises at checkout!

Fleet and Seating on Frontier Airlines

Flying with Frontier Airlines is an interesting experience, especially when it comes to their fleet and seating options. Frontier operates a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft, including the A320neo, A319, and A321. These planes are known for their fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness, which aligns with Frontier’s focus on being an eco-conscious airline. It’s great to know that even as a budget carrier, they’re committed to reducing their carbon footprint.

Now, let’s talk about seating. Frontier’s seats are, shall we say, “no-frills.” The standard seats are slimline with limited padding, designed to maximize space and minimize costs. If you’re not picky about legroom or recline, they’ll get the job done for short flights. For me, the seats were fine for a two-hour trip, but I wouldn’t want to test their comfort on a longer flight. Keep in mind, the standard seats do not recline, which could be a dealbreaker for some.

If you’re willing to spend a little extra for comfort, Frontier offers Stretch Seats, which are their premium seating option. These seats have:

Extra legroom (up to 36 inches compared to the standard 28-31 inches).

A bit more cushioning.

Full recline capability.

Stretch Seats are located in the front rows and exit rows of the plane, so you’ll also get priority boarding. On my flight, I debated upgrading to a Stretch Seat, but since I was traveling solo and on a budget, I stuck with the standard option.

Here’s a quick comparison of Frontier’s seating options:

For travelers who prioritize affordability, the standard seats are fine for shorter trips. But if you’re someone who values comfort or needs more legroom (hello, tall folks!), the Stretch Seats are a worthwhile upgrade.

Overall, Frontier’s seating matches their ultra-low-cost carrier model. It’s all about balancing what you’re willing to pay for versus what you’re willing to sacrifice. Personally, I found the standard seat tolerable for a short flight, but I’d definitely go for a Stretch Seat on a longer journey—because sometimes, a little extra comfort is totally worth it.

Check-In and Boarding with Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines offers multiple check-in options: online, via the mobile app, at airport kiosks, or at the counter. Online or app check-in is free and opens 24 hours before departure—definitely the most budget-friendly option. Avoid printing your boarding pass at the airport counter unless necessary; it costs $25 (source: Frontier Airlines website).

The boarding process is organized by zones, listed on your boarding pass. Early boarding is available for those who purchase priority boarding or Stretch Seats. If you’re in later zones, prepare for limited overhead bin space.

Quick Tips:

Check in online or via the app for free.

Download your mobile boarding pass to avoid fees.

Arrive early if you need an airport kiosk to avoid delays.

With a little planning, Frontier’s check-in and boarding process is hassle-free and wallet-friendly.

In-Flight Experience on Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines keeps things simple when it comes to the in-flight experience. Don’t expect luxury, but if you’re flying with your budget in mind, it’s not bad for what you pay. Here’s what stood out during my flight:

The cabin is clean and functional, with no unnecessary frills. The seats, while basic, are fine for short flights but might feel a bit stiff for longer trips. There’s no built-in entertainment system, so bring your own devices if you need something to pass the time. For me, a good book and downloaded movies on my phone did the trick.

Food and drinks aren’t included with your ticket, but you can purchase snacks and beverages onboard. Prices are reasonable for airline standards—think $3 for a soda and around $8 for a snack box. I skipped the snacks since I brought my own, which is a great way to save a few bucks.

One thing I appreciated was the crew. They were friendly and professional, which made the flight feel more enjoyable despite the minimalist setup. While Frontier’s ultra-low-cost approach means fewer amenities, their team did a good job maintaining a positive vibe throughout the flight.

Pro Tips for a Better Experience:

Bring your own snacks, water bottle, and entertainment to save money and stay comfortable.

If you’re tall or need extra space, consider upgrading to a Stretch Seat for more legroom.

Be prepared for no Wi-Fi or in-flight entertainment—download content ahead of time.

Overall, the in-flight experience with Frontier is exactly what you’d expect from a budget airline. It’s basic, but with a little preparation, you can still have a comfortable trip.

Customer Service

Frontier’s customer service reflects their budget model—it’s efficient but not particularly personalized. I had no issues during my flight, so I didn’t interact much with the staff beyond check-in and boarding. However, the flight attendants were polite and professional, which added a positive touch to the experience.

If you need assistance post-flight, their online customer service options are the fastest way to get help. They also have a call center, but be prepared for potential wait times. Pro tip: Use their live chat feature for quicker responses.

Who Should Fly Frontier Airlines?

Frontier is ideal for travelers who prioritize cost over comfort. If you’re a solo traveler, student, or family looking for affordable flights, their low fares can’t be beaten—especially if you plan ahead and skip unnecessary add-ons. However, if you value amenities, extra legroom, or flexibility, you might find Frontier’s no-frills approach limiting.

Recently, I had the opportunity to fly Thai Airways on their Bangkok to London route, and let me tell you, it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I boarded to the final touchdown at Heathrow, there were plenty of highs and a few lows.

Thai Airways : The Vibes Onboard

First off, Thai Airways knows how to make an entrance. From the moment I stepped onto the plane, it felt like I’d walked into a cozy, purple-hued spa. Soft lighting, and that signature Thai charm immediately set the tone. Even the air smelled fancy—like a mix of lemongrass and adventure.

The boarding process for Thai Airways was smooth as silk (pun intended), and before I knew it, I was handed a hot towel and offered a welcome drink. Naturally, I went for the lemongrass juice, which was as refreshing as a dip in a Bangkok rooftop pool.

Let’s Talk About the Seats

I flew Economy, and honestly, it wasn’t too shabby! The legroom was decent—no yoga poses needed to stay comfortable. It’s not as spacious as Emirates Airline and Singapore Airline. But compare to airline with the similar price range like Airasia, it’s more than enough. The seats were plush enough, though they could use a little facelift. Mine had a slight squeak whenever I shifted, but hey, it added character.

The recline? Well, let’s just say it was more of a polite nod than a full-on lean-back. It was manageable for a quick nap but definitely not “lie-flat luxury.” If you’re someone who struggles to sleep on planes, pack a travel pillow and maybe a prayer.

Cabin Crew: MVPs of the Sky

Thai Airways’ cabin crew deserves a standing ovation (but not during turbulence). They were sweet, efficient, and always seemed to know what I needed before I even asked. Blanket? Boom. Extra water? No problem. A second helping of dessert? You bet.

What really stood out was how genuine the cabin crew at Thai Airways were. There’s a difference between “I’m smiling because I have to” and “I’m smiling because I genuinely want you to have a good time.” These folks were definitely in the latter camp.

Food and Drinks: A Taste of Thailand

Now, let’s get to the good stuff—food on Thai Airways. Dinner was served shortly after takeoff, and I went straight for the Thai Style roasted chicken with potato and carrots. It was flavorful, just the right level of spicy, and came with a side of perfectly fluffy rice. They even threw in a dessert that had me questioning why airplane food gets such a bad rap.

Breakfast was equally delightful. I opted for the Western option—scrambled eggs, sausages, and some sort of potato concoction. Not exactly gourmet, but it hit the spot. My only gripe? The portions were on the smaller side. Pro tip: bring snacks. You’ll thank me when the midnight munchies hit.

Oh, and their tea game? Strong. They had a variety of herbal teas, and I may or may not have tried them all. No regrets.

Entertainment: Netflix, Who?

Thai Airways’ in-flight entertainment was legit. The selection was surprisingly vast, with everything from Hollywood blockbusters to classic Thai movies. I ended up binge-watching a couple of new releases and then stumbled upon a hilarious Thai comedy that had me laughing out loud (sorry to my seat neighbors).

The screens were a decent size, though the resolution could’ve been sharper. The touchscreen was responsive, and navigating through the options was a breeze. Heads up: the provided headphones are… okay. If you’re picky about sound quality, bring your own.

Restrooms: Clean and Chic

Thai Airways restroom check: spotless. Throughout the flight, the crew made sure everything stayed squeaky clean, and there was always a fresh stock of amenities. They even had floral-scented hand lotion, which felt super bougie. It’s the little things, you know?

Other Perks and Quirks

Thai Airways doesn’t skimp on the extras. The blankets were warm and soft, and they provided these cute little amenity kits with socks, an eye mask, and even a toothbrush. It’s like they knew I’d forget mine.

The flight at Thai Airways was smooth, with only a few minor bumps along the way. The captain kept us in the loop with updates, and his calm, soothing voice was oddly comforting—like a bedtime story but with flight paths.

Final Verdict: Worth It?

So, was it worth the ticket price? Heck yes. Thai Airways delivered on comfort, service, and a little slice of Thai hospitality at 30,000 feet. Sure, the seats could use a refresh, and the entertainment screens aren’t exactly 4K, but those are minor blips on an otherwise stellar radar.

FAQ

1. How trustworthy is Thai Airways?

Thai Airways is a well-established airline with a solid reputation for safety, reliability, and excellent service. As the national carrier of Thailand, it has consistently received high marks from passengers for its hospitality, in-flight comfort, and overall professionalism. The airline is a member of the Star Alliance, further reinforcing its credibility and trustworthiness.

2. How much baggage is allowed in Thai Airways?

Baggage allowance depends on the class of travel and your route:

Economy Class: Usually includes 1 piece of checked baggage up to 20-30kg, plus 7kg for hand luggage.

Premium Economy and Business Class: Allowances are more generous, often permitting 30-40kg for checked baggage and 2 pieces of hand luggage.

Always check your specific ticket details, as allowances may vary.

3. Who owns Thai Airways?

Thai Airways is majority-owned by the Thai Ministry of Finance, making it a government-backed airline. It operates as a public company and is listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The airline plays a crucial role in promoting Thailand as a global destination.

4. Is Thai Airways still flying?

Yes, Thai Airways is still operational and offers both domestic and international flights. Despite challenges during the pandemic, the airline has resumed many of its popular routes, including long-haul flights to Europe, Asia, and Australia. It continues to adapt and expand its schedule as global travel demand increases.

5. How strict is Thai Airways with luggage?

Thai Airways tends to enforce its luggage policies fairly strictly, especially for hand luggage. Cabin baggage must adhere to weight and size limits (usually 7kg and specific dimensions). Checked baggage is weighed at check-in, and excess baggage fees apply if you exceed the allowance. It’s best to double-check your baggage limits and weigh your bags before heading to the airport to avoid any surprises.
