Condor Airlines Review: My Flight Experience from Calgary to Frankfurt

Condor Airlines

My trip to Calgary was a memorable one. Although I was living in Germany my roots were based in Canada. That’s one reason why visiting Canada and also including Canada Day when I did meant so much to me.

Now, it was time to head back home, and no better flight to book for getting back to Frankfurt than United Airlines, right? But because I had told my travel agent to book a low fare flight this time, he booked the Condor Airlines. I was not happy at first, but then he explained that there was nothing to worry about so I went ahead with a thumbs up.

Condor Airlines is a German airline I definitely heard of but never booked before. The Munich airport as well as Frankfurt airport are main hubs of Condor Airlines. Established in the year 1955, Condor Airlines has catered to thousands of leisure travelers so far. Condor has affordable flights starting from €19.9.

Expect to have only good things to say about the Condor flight from Calgary to Frankfurt. My overall Condor Airlines flight experience was pleasant enough. I won’t hesitate to recommend or myself board a Condor Airlines plane next time the opportunity arises.

Condor Airlines and United Airlines: Which One to Pick

Based on my honest customer feedback, we can help you pick the next best flight.

Condor Airlines

I believe Condor Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance airline alliance, offers a great travelling experience.

Condor Airlines came to life back in 90s with Frankfurt airport as main base. It is a German one that provides flights to destinations such as North America, South America, Africa, and more.

Condor Airlines offers charter and scheduled flights. I was surprised to learn that it can even be booked for medium-haul flights and long-haul flights to enjoy a seamless flying experience.

United Airlines

United Airlines is no less loved by customers than Condor Airlines. I only have good things to say about my experience on a United Airlines flight.

Last, I flew on a United Airlines flight in August. While booking my flight from Calgary to Frankfurt, my first option was actually United Airlines. And that’s because United Airlines’ in-flight experience is incomparable.

Be it their meals or non-alcoholic beverages, United Airlines offers a lot to its loyal customers. The kind of cleanliness and onboard support that you get here is worth mentioning.

My Condor Airlines Review: Flight from Calgary to Frankfurt

My wife and I took Condor Airlines from Calgary to Frankfurt in October 2024. All the good experiences overpower my head when I think about Condor.

Check-In Experience

Check-in online was easy. Baggage handling was very fast and convenient. I found the check in staff to be very friendly and pretty patient.

My luggage was pretty over the weight limit. And guess what? The charge was a straight 100 euro. That was quite understandable and I did not even hesitate for one second while paying. I just wanted to get through security and find our gate.

I only had sixty spare minutes before boarding began. All the passengers were to line back up. We all had our documents cleared first. I was keen on enjoying an aisle seat, but I got the middle one.

In-Flight Experience

The plane seemed quite new, and everything in it worked. Pillows and blankets were provided. A travel pack was included, along with one neat travel satchel, that I relished using almost daily during my tour. I wouldn’t think long to travel with this airline again whenever the opportunity again comes. All in all, my journey was much comparable to a regular non-discounter flight.

Seating Experience

My seat had an amenity kit along with headphones. The comfort of cabin seats really depends on the person.

My wife is 5’4″, and she found her seat quite comfortable. For me, at 6ft, the experience was a bit different. The legroom was a bit tight, but I wasn’t completely squished, definitely better than some flights where there’s almost no space at all.

The seats I got started feeling hard after 9 hours. But I’ve been on worse flights, so it wasn’t too bad. Although the legroom wasn’t the most generous, it was still manageable compared to other flights I’ve taken where the space was practically non-existent.

The seat didn’t recline, which could’ve been annoying, but it wasn’t a big deal since the seat in front of me didn’t lean back either. Overall, despite the limited legroom and a bit of discomfort after a long stretch, I’d still give the seating experience a decent rating overall. Three stars, perhaps, given the circumstances.

Cabin Crew Services

The flight attendants were polite, pleasant and knew good English. Staff on the plane were friendly and competent. Very attentive crew. Searched for a water bottle but got one handed out during flight.

Food And Beverage

The drink service was frequent. Passengers were offered plenty of choices, including alcoholic beverages, fruit juice, etc. I enjoyed having free beverages there.

The food served on the flight was disappointing. It had the kind of flavour you get from reheated leftovers rather than a fresh dish.

Entertainment Options

I liked the larger entertainment screen. I found the music options were not that familiar to my taste. I would not surely count that as a deal breaker. The entertainment system has a nice big screen and USB-C charging, which is a step up from the competition, but there aren’t a ton of movies.

Restrooms

The restrooms were basic, tightly figured, and clean. It was tough to move around comfortably, especially if you’re tall or need a bit more space.

Others

The landing in Frankfurt was soft. The flights were all exactly on time. Exiting as well as baggage claim was a breeze. I had zero issues and can go as far as to say it was a significantly better experience than previous flights I’ve had to and from Germany. The plane was one of those brand new airbuses. It had two aisles. I would fly with Condor Airlines again without hesitation.

Conclusion: Is Condor Airlines Worth It

Altogether, I was pleased with this flight. The flight was worth every euro. Sure, the food wasn’t great, and the seats weren’t super comfy, but the important things were great.

The plane was clean and the flight was on time. The crew performed professionally, my wife and I could feel they were having fun performing their job.

For the price, I got exactly what I needed. The cabin was good considering the quite low pricing.
