Baldur’s Gate is back with its third installment of the franchise. Fictionally located in the backdrop of Dungeons and Dragons, the more specific location of the gameplay is the Forgotten Realms. The popularity of Baldur’s Gate as a Role-Playing Game (RPG) that challenges the mental and cognitive capacities of the participant is continued in this game as well. 

Baldur’s Gate 3 stimulates participants’ creativity and imagination by placing them in various contexts to test their skills. The challenges offered in the game can improve any player’s capabilities. The characters are at the heart of the narrative and push the gameplay forward. 

 

Characters in Baldur’s Gate 3

Several characters are available in Baldur’s Gate for the gameplay to progress. There are original characters and companion characters in the gameplay. A participant can choose anyone as the origin character and select the others as companions. 

The different characters are:

Astarion

Baldur’s Gate 3 Astarion

Astarion is recognized as an origin character in Baldur’s Gate 3. He can also be utilized as a recruitable companion in the gameplay. He makes his initial appearance in Act One of the game. Astarion’s history is significant to the character development. Under the influence of an evil lord called Cazador Szarr, Astarion was later abducted by nautiloid. His initial appearance in the game is in Act One, close to Nautiloid Wreck. As a character, he approves of strength and unscrupulous nature. He shuns weakness of any sort. As an enslaved person, he approves of any action done for independence and glory. 

 

Gale

Baldur’s Gate 3 Gale

Gale can also be utilized as an origin and companion character. He is both a human and a wizard. Gale makes his first appearance during the gameplay in Act One. His first appearance in the game happens at the Roadside Ways Cliffpoint. He can be recruited into the team from that point onwards. He is considered a scholar. He also has deep skills in the arcane arts, making him a valuable asset to the party. Gale is a cursed character and has a tadpole in his brain. He is on a quest to cure his curse and needs constant potion consumption. 

 

Halsin

Baldur’s Gate 3 Halsin

Halsin hails from the Outlander background. He belongs to the category of wood elf. Halsin is a recruitable companion in Act One of Baldur’s Gate 3. As a character, he has the personal quest of finding a cure for the Shadow curse, which has been haunting his home for nearly a century. His initial appearance happens at the location of the Shattered Sanctum in Act One. If a participant can make the right moves, Halsin can become a permanent party member. Halsin is a character who has close ties with nature and maintains that dignity throughout the gameplay. He is an honest and upright character in Baldur’s Gate 3. 

 

Jaheira

Baldur’s Gate 3 Jaheira

Jaheira is a recruitable companion character in Baldur’s Gate 3. She has previously made her appearance in both installments of the game. Jaheira is part of the Harper Network, which took down the Cult of the Absolute. Her closest friend in the game is in Minsc. As a character, Jaheira has a very sharp wit and a dry sense of humor. Her first appearance in the gameplay occurs only in Act Two, at the Last Light Inn. She is a non-playable character but can be recruited to the party if the player makes the right choices. Another aspect associated with Jaheira is that she is a widow. Hence, unlike other characters, she cannot be romanced by anyone. 

 

Karlach

Baldur’s Gate 3 Karlach

Karlach is one of the origin characters in Baldur’s Gate 3. She hails from the Outlander background. She is a barbarian, making her first appearance in Act One. She is a character who has been a soldier in Zariel’s army. After a few developments in the gameplay, she has gained independence and highly values it. Her first appearance in the gameplay happens at The Risen Road in Act One. Karlach is one of the characters in the game who is very righteous in their approach to others. She has a very smart sense of what is right and wrong. She also approves of kind interactions between the characters. 

 

Lae’Zel

Baldur’s Gate 3 Lae’Zel

Lae’zel is also an original character. She hails from a soldier background. She is a fierce fighter who first appears in Baldur’s Gate 3 prologue. As a soldier, she was intensely devoted to the Lich Queen. Her quest is to prove her loyalty to the queen by ending the terrors of the Illithid. Even though she appears in the prologue, she can only be recruited to the party at the Roadside Cliffs in Act One. Lae’Zel is a character who vouches for direct solutions to issues. She is straightforward in that sense. 

 

Minsc

Baldur’s Gate 3 Minsc

Minsc is another recruitable companion in Baldur’s Gate 3. He was previously an integral part of both Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II. He belongs to the Folk Hero background. He makes his initial appearance in Baldur’s Gate Three in Act Three. He can be found in the Counting House, where he and his hamster companion Boo Boo are minds controlled by the Absolute. He can be freed and recruited into the party. He is considered an un-romanceable character within the gameplay. He is a brave and loyal character. 

 

Minthara

Baldur’s Gate 3 Minthara

Minthara is another recruitable companion hailing from the Noble background. She makes her first appearance in Act One. Recruiting Minthara is a tricky task in Baldur’s Gate 3. She initially makes her appearance as a villain character in the gameplay. She is the commander of a group of goblins and a part of the cult of the Absolute. She is initially very much hostile to the player character. Unless the participant sides with her in Act One and sleeps with her, she cannot be recruited in Act Two. Even then, in Act Two, she must be saved from execution to be recruited. As a character, Minthara is highly respectful to characters able to showcase willpower in adverse conditions. 

 

Shadowheart

Baldur’s Gate 3 Shadowheart

Shadowheart makes her first appearance during the prologue. She is an original character and can also be recruited into the party. She hails from the Acolyte Background. She is a loyal servant to the goddess Shar Shar. She is recognized as a cold and ruthless character who exhibits calculating measures. She is another one of the romanceable characters in the gameplay. She is a focused character who intends to find practical solutions to problems. She approves of privacy and open-mindedness. 

 

Wyll

Baldur’s Gate 3 Wyll

Wyll is an origin character in Baldur’s Gate 3, and he hails from the Folk Hero background. He makes his first appearance in between Act One. Wyll is an efficient hunter and is bound to his patron, Mizora. He is initially found in the Emeral Grove. He can be easily recruited into the party. Wyll is one of the kindest characters in Baldur’s Gate 3. He is of some sort towards children and approves of others’ kindness towards kids. Valiant acts of defending the innocent are also approved by him.
