Fans of Guerilla Games’ PS4 hit Horizon Zero Dawn will finally find out how the 2017 story continues this summer.  Aloy’s adventures are set to continue in a different, less interactive format as the fiery redhead’s new arc will span an entire HZD comic book series. Guerilla enlisted the help of Titan Comics on the project, opting for a partner with vast experience in the area of comic-book spin-offs (Warcraft, Star Wars, Life is Strange, WWE Heroes).

The story continues as the original HZD nears PC release

Horizon Zero Dawn conquered the world by storm when it released in 2017. The game delivered a post-apocalyptic setting unlike any other – a lush and beautiful world ruled by deadly animal-like machines. In this world, where nature seemingly reclaimed the planet, and where technology presents a peril, we followed the journey of an extraordinary young woman – Aloy – on her quest to resolve the riddle of her mysterious origins. Discovering more than she bargained for, Aloy’s adventure ended on a cliffhanger, leaving the space open for an inevitable sequel.  HZD fans will hence finally learn what happens in the next chapter of her epic journey.

The upcoming comic series features a story penned by Anne Toole, one of the writers behind the original game, with illustrations from emerging artist Ann Mauline. The 2020 adventure will follow the exploits of Aloy and Talanah Khane Padish, an apprentice Carja hunter who played an important role in the events of the first game. More specifically, following Aloy’s disappearance, Talanah sets out on the quest to find her friend and resolve the mystery behind the appearance of a new and dangerous species of – what else than – killer machines.

The first issue of the series – simply called Horizon Zero Dawn, is planned for both physical and digital release on July 22nd, priced at $3.99. Accidentally or not, the timing of this release coincides with the long-expected arrival of the award-winning PlayStation 4 exclusive to PC. The Steam page for Horizon Zero Dawn: The Complete Edition is already live, albeit a concrete release date has yet to be attached to this unlikely Windows port.
