Hoka Clifton 9 Review – Lightweight Running Shoes for Beginners

Running is one of my favorite hobbies. I have participated in several marathons over the years. Naturally, I train a lot, at least 15 miles per week. I was looking for a new pair that is lightweight and comfortable to wear. That’s when I found Hoka Clifton 9.

I came across the brand on TikTok, which has been trending for months. I finally decided to get the shoes and check out what all the hype is about myself. I have already used the boots a few times. Since many of you are interested in this pair, here’s my Hoka Clifton 9 review.

What’s New?

Clifton 9 has new features that make it a great choice within this budget. When I bought the shoes, I noticed they were lightweight and had more stack height. But what I liked the most was the redesigned upper, which gave the shoes a new look.

How’s The Fit?

I personally review a shoe based on the fit, and I can’t adjust in a shoe that is even a bit uncomfortable, but at the same time, finding a well-fitting shoe is not easy. However, I found a perfect pair with Clifton 9. These are not only comfortable, but also are snug fit and the laces of these shoes play a big role in giving a snugger fit.

Unlike other running shoes, the laces don’t come undone even after running long distances. This is one thing I like about the shoes. Instead of worrying about tying my laces mid-run, I can focus on my training without disturbances.

Is It Comfortable?

The comfort these shoes provide is ultimate. I never experienced such comfort even after wearing a pair for so long. 

Clifton 9 has a snug fit, so you get the right support. As per experience with other running shoes, this one feels light and absorbs the impact of the shoes really well. 

Do not take these just for running, but it also works great for any type of outdoor activity like hiking or playing. 

You unlock more features with the new design like durable rubber outsole, a 5 mm drop, and 3 mm more foam than the previous models, ensuring the perfect amount of cushioning.

How Stable Are the Shoes?

It is not like I have limited experience with running shoes. I have used many running shoes that an average person does, but I didn’t find any of them as stable as Hoka Clifton 9. 

They have compression-molded EVA midsoles that maximize comfort for your ankles and knees. It ensures you don’t twist your ankle or roll your knees while running. Besides that, it has the perfect arch support and cushioning that is neither too flat nor too bouncy.

What I Liked About Hoka Clifton 9?

I have worn the shoes daily for a week. I liked the plush padding around the heel and collar, which makes the shoes comfortable. It feels like walking on clouds.

Another thing I liked is the rocker-bottom design, which helps propel your foot forward. These shoes create excellent momentum and make you feel connected to the ground, which other shoes don’t.

What I Didn’t Like About Hoka Clifton 9?

Clifton 9 is meant for running. You cannot use it while lifting weights or performing other workouts. 

Unlike other shoes, Clifton 9 is not versatile. This is the only thing that bugs me; otherwise, the shoes are fine.

Final Verdict

If you take my words then Hoka Clifton 9 is great for running along with features that make running feel good. If you are looking for lightweight running shoes that offer more support and comfort, Clifton 9 is a top choice. The only problem is that you cannot use them for heavy workouts.
