Honda HR-V Review Malaysia: What Makes This SUV So Popular?

Every car enthusiast has a favourite brand and for me it is Honda because it is not only good on performance, but also easy on the pockets compared to some other brands out there.
Ever since Honda HR-V entered the market last year, I have been eyeing it for an unhealthy number of times and finally brought it a week ago. Well, it’s performance is as good as it looks and available in three variants, including two hybrid and one petrol and myself being a fan, I got the hybrid of course.
Taking a look at the car, you can tell it is built well and is comfortable to drive, and that’s exactly what I feel after being behind the wheel. If you are intrigued to know more about this beauty, I have shared my review in the below lines.
Interior
One of the many things I like about Honda HR-V is how spacious it is and unlike some other models it offers plenty of legroom for you to be nice and comfortable. The seats are supportive and the steering wheel feels great in your hands, but I believe it would be better if it could be pulled more toward the driver.
As far as the tech is concerned, the HR-V packs in a good range of features, including a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and Honda’s app which you can use to find your car or unlock it with your phone.
Another thing I like are the “magic seats” because you can flip them with ease and create extra space for yourself and your passengers. It’s the flexible setup that lets you make the most of the vehicle.
Driving
If you ask me, I had a great experience driving it around because no doubt, it does its job well and is pretty much what you would expect from a small hybrid SUV.
You can cruise silently in electric mode for a mile or two and does its best to keep the engine off whenever possible. The paddles behind the steering wheel lets you recharge the battery and recover energy when slowing down, but unless you are in Sport mode, the system resets back to a standard setting after a short time.
Pricing
Now let’s talk about the pricing because that’s what really matters when you are about to purchase a car and that also Honda HR-V. Well, you can avail it between RM 115,900 and RM 141,900 depending on the variant you choose, but pay extra if you opt for any additional charges.
The car is available in four different colours, but that doesn’t affect the price actually, so you can choose whichever you like the most.
Pros
- Excellent build-quality
- Versatile
- Comfortable seats
Cons
- Only four seats
- Slightly expensive
Final Verdict
According to me, Honda HR-V is a value purchase, especially if you are looking for a family car that is quiet and affordable. The seamless design with a high-performance engine surely makes the car stand out, particularly the hybrid model and that’s the reason I chose this variant.
