If you’re a TV comedy lover you probably know the show Brooklyn 99. It follows the daily life of some NYPD detectives who work in a Brooklyn police station. The cast consists of Andy Samberg as Detective Jake Peralta, Melissa Fumero as Detective Amy Santiago and others. The show launched on FOX in 2013, cancelled after 5 seasons in 2018, and then picked up by NBC. If you love this comedy, you should check out the shows below.

Superstore

Superstore is an excellent choice for fans of Brooklyn 99. This show narrates the adventures of the employees who work in one of the Cloud 9 hypermarkets. Among its protagonists, the principal characters are Ben Feldman as the new employee called Jonah, and America Ferrera as Amy, the hypermarkets’ floor chief. They work during long and poorly paid workdays at the store number 1217 of the Cloud 9 corporation, while they attend to their customers between comical situations.

In their daily work hours inside the Cloud 9 store, the protagonists are forced to implement the absurd guidelines and constant changes that come from the superiors of the central office. Superstore has a great potential to entertain viewers episode after episode. It’s the perfect choice for a weekend marathon. I had the opportunity to watch it on Amazon Prime and I devoured the first two seasons in just a weekend.

The Office

The Office is an American comedy television series, adapted from the British original with the same name. It premiered on NBC in 2005 and deals with the daily lives of employees of the fictional paper company “Dunder Mifflin” at its offices in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The series was developed in a mockumentary style, where the actors speak directly to the cameras, although it is a fictional show and the actors use scripts to act.

The series almost died at the end of its first season, but it passed this hurdle and ended up becoming one of the most popular TV comedies of all time. The first season tried to be quite faithful to the British original and this didn’t work with American audiences. The great success that came later was due to significant changes in the character of Michael Scott played by Steve Carell. This show is definitely binge-worthy.

Parks and Recreation

Another great TV comedy to enjoy at night or on weekends is Parks and Recreation. This hilarious American series was broadcast on NBC for seven seasons between 2009 and 2015. The principal character of the show is Leslie Knope played by Amy Poehler, a public official who works in the Parks and Recreation Department of the fictional city of Pawnee, Indiana. This show shares the same style as The Office, as it’s also filmed as a mockumentary.

The series shows the daily life of the deputy director Leslie Knope who tries to help Ann Perkins, a nurse from Pawnee. At the beginning of the show, Leslie promises Ann that she will turn pit next to Ann’s house into a park. In this show, the viewers follow Leslie in her adventures while she tries to encourage city residents to support the project and struggles with her boss, Ron Swanson, played by Nick Offerman.
