If you’re into simulations, you’ve heard stories about people that spent tens of thousands of dollars on recreating that perfect airplane or a racing car. One of main reasons to use multiple PCs wasn’t the computing power per se, but rather the lack of an appropriate number of display connectors.

PowerColor may have a ticket to ride – their custom HD 5970 4GB is the latest to come online, but definitely comes with the most original concept of them all.

Engineers at TUL Corporation showed real ingenuity by making full use of the six display pipelines inside each Cypress chip [i.e. “Hemlock”]. Their custom HD 5970 comes with 4GB GDDR5 memory of yet unspecified clocks, but the backplate reveals PowerColor linked each and every Display pipeline with mini-Display Port connectors.

As a result, we have no less than 12 mini-DP connectors on a triple-slot graphics card with a custom cooler that enables PowerColor to significantly overclock the two Cypress GPUs and the associated 4GB of GDDR5 memory.
