Ivacy VPN Review

With how competitive the VPN market is nowadays, it’s not often that a newcomer to the field can get any meaningful traction, but that’s precisely what Ivacy has been doing lately. Backed by claims of being the fastest virtual private network out there, this Singapore-based company continues to grow its user base in a rapid manner, so it’s time to take a look at how its service compares to more established names.

Ivacy VPN Review
4.36 BSN Score
Pros
Competitive pricing. Excellent speeds and So. Many. Features.
Cons
Poor torrenting performance. Cluttered interface. Small server selection.
Summary
The sheer volume of features Ivacy VPN throws your way can be absolutely stunning, but also utterly intimidating to someone who hasn’t been using this type of software for a while. Still, with its consistent performance, competitive pricing, and excellent handling of popular on-demand video streaming platforms, this solution undoubtedly amounts to a net positive addition to the VPN options at your disposal.

Ivacy VPN Performance

If you’re primarily concerned with speeds, i.e. throughput degradation, Ivacy VPN is as good as they come. Assuming you’re located in the U.S. or Central Europe, you’ll have no issues finding a decent number of servers in your immediate vicinity, meaning you’ll be able to mask your real identity and cryptographically secure your traffic without sacrificing a significant portion of your Internet speeds.

Ivacy VPN also has an excellent grasp on video streaming, so rest assured you’ll be able to circumvent geographical restrictions imposed by anything from Hulu to Disney+. Unfortunately, the one exception to that is the extremely popular Netflix, and things aren’t exactly peachy on the P2P side of things, either, with the provider having only a limited number of servers optimized for torrenting, meaning you’ll often be met with overloaded nodes incapable of delivering anything resembling a solid connection.

Ivacy VPN Privacy & Security

Ivacy VPN enforces an industry-standard no-logging policy that’s an obligatory starting point for any provider trying to build customer trust. Beyond that, the software will absolutely bombard you with features: customizable kill switches, multi-protocol support, antivirus integration, standalone Kodi app, automation-friendly Smart Connect, mobile clients, split tunneling – there’s truly no shortage of extra bells and whistles here.

Naturally, there’s always the question of whether you need all of those functionalities, especially seeing how Ivacy can sometimes disappoint with the very basics of VPNs – torrenting and video streaming. Nonetheless, the fact remains Ivacy can legitimately claim it’s the most feature-packed VPN option on the market, and there will always be a subset of consumers highly appreciative of that fact.

Ivacy VPN Warrant Canary

There’s no warrant canary to speak of with Ivacy VPN, which isn’t a surprise seeing how this service is first and foremost built on a bulletproof no-logs policy. In other words, even if Ivacy invested in maintaining a warrant canary, it wouldn’t have much to report in this regard – like, ever.

Ivacy VPN Ease of Use

The wide range of features Ivacy VPN is offering are here at the expense of intuitiveness, with the software’s overall design being rather chaotic. Clutter interfaces are a fairly common sight in the field of VPNs, but that doesn’t excuse Ivacy for not doing a better job at making its solution more accessible. Though, to be frank, it’s hard to imagine anyone pulling the trigger on Ivacy while simultaneously being an inexperienced VPN user who’d have serious issues getting used to the software itself. If you truly need a significant portion of what this company is offering, chances are, you won’t find its cluttered menus to be too big of an obstacle to overcome.

Ivacy VPN Pricing

Ivacy is one of the most competitively priced virtual private networks in the segment, especially when comparing its longer plans to those of its rivals. $5 a month is already an excellent offer, which is how much a 6-month subscription amounts to, whereas a year-long commitment equates to a mere $3.50 per month.

Ivacy VPN Review Summary

The sheer volume of features Ivacy VPN throws your way can be absolutely stunning, but also utterly intimidating to someone who hasn’t been using this type of software for a while. Still, with its consistent performance, competitive pricing, and excellent handling of popular on-demand video streaming platforms, this solution undoubtedly amounts to a net positive addition to the VPN options at your disposal.

Editor’s Note

BSN’s Ivacy VPN Review has been written by Dominik Bosnjak, a long-time VPN-user-turned-advocate who spends more time scrutinizing VPN Providers on a daily basis than he’d like to admit. When he isn’t writing VPN Guides and covering general Tech News, he’s probably spending time with his dog, video games, or both. Fun fact: the Shih Tzu in question is the only remaining creature in Dominik’s life who hasn’t told him they’re sick of him talking about Best VPN practices and government-sponsored erosion of digital privacy which made using the Internet less convenient over the years. He occasionally dabbles in video editing, Wall Street memes, and demonstrating a remarkable lack of guitar-playing ability. If you want more tidbit-sized rants about any of those things, you can find him on Twitter @dddominikk.

The overall score doesn’t represent an average of all individual ratings but a weighted average which values Performance as 33%, Privacy & Security as 33%, Ease of Use as 12%, and Pricing as 22% of the final figure. It’s meant to standardize our reviews by giving more weight to the attributes we value the most in VPNs (speed, privacy, and security) without completely disregarding the rest. Naturally, much like any other review out there, the starting points/ratings are still inherently subjective to a particular reviewer’s experience.
