As the world of business slowly returns to normal, there have been varying interpretations as to how quickly standard operations can resume and in what fashion. A good example might come from India’s various entrepreneurs, who have chosen to return to the office as quickly as possible to maintain a hands-on grip on the company while allowing employees leniency and judgment as to when they’d like to return.

Employees will start coming back from early July

A spokesman for Paytm, one of India’s top tech startups, explained the rationale behind the business owners’ decisions, stating that the company is looking to cater to the differing needs of their employees. Examples of cases where employees might favor a home office until the health crisis is revolved include travel restrictions, as well as families with elderly members who are more prone to contracting the virus.

Flipkart, Udaan, Zomato and Ola are some of the other well-known Indian companies that have assumed a similar approach. They have likely taken cue from international tech giant companies such as Amazon and Facebook, many of which have stated a preference that remote working should continue until the end of June in order to maximize employee safety, with standard office work gradually resuming as July rolls in.
