ArchivebotThanks to the SIA [Semiconductor Industry Association] and Wedbush Research, we received the Semiconductor industry analysis for February 2010 and we saw some encouraging numbers. Even though the monthly survey does not include all members of the semiconductor industry [not all manufacturers are members of the SIA], this is still one of the industry standards on how the market trends are coming along.
Revenue-wise, total revenue of the Semiconductor industry for the first two months of 2010 was to the tune of $42,632,891, a massive 61% more than in the first two months of 2009. Given that last year was struck by a recession, we had to look at a 5-year average and there we still see a really good 8% growth.
If we take a look at February 2010 alone, the total size of Semi industry was $20,786,032 – 5% down from February 2009 and 1% down on five year industry average. Thus, we can conclude that January 2010 was one impressive month indeed, and we need to wait until we see March figures to round up the first quarter and see what the trend really is.
In terms of shipped units, the Semiconductor industry shipped more than 100 million units – 104,083,280, to be more exact. This represents a massive 76% Year-On-Year growth, and an equally impressive 16% growth over the 5-year average.
