When will these EVs become available to buy?
Audi held an online world premiere of its new flagship EV models this week. E-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT both come with a wonderful exterior and interior design and have an electric quattro all-wheel drive. These serial models look very much like concept vehicles and are powered by dual electric motors, one on each axle, which produce between 522 and 637 horsepower – depending on the model. Besides that, their range will be between 232 and 298 miles. Both models share the design aesthetic, technology, and philosophy of the Porsche’s Taycan, as well as an 800-volt electrical architecture that allows them to charge batteries from 5% to 80% in 22.5 minutes, which is amongst the quickest in the industry and quite impressive. Both models will be available to buy this summer; the e-Tron GT will start at $99,000, whereas the e-Tron GT Quattro will set you back at least $40,000 more.
These models are Audi’s challenger for the Tesla Model S. Although the e-tron GT was first revealed in a bit different state at the 2018 LA motor show, these models are a good intro into the German automaker’s plan to move away a bit from its crossover and SUV lineup, and closer to fulfilling its plan to launch more than 30 EVs and plug-in hybrids by 2025. E-tron GT will be available in the US market this summer.
