Asus P7P55D-E Premium Specs Revealed

Not too long ago we heard the rumors that USB 3.0 was being delayed by Intel. At the time we thought the rumors were somewhat unfounded… Ok we thought they were a complete crock. After all – how is Intel going to really stop a standard from getting out? Engineering resources at the company are drained on other projects we already wrote about and while it is all candy-dandy by crying about Intel being a bad boy, nobody was stopping nVidia or AMD to create USB 3.0 chipsets. In the end – it is true that the standard gains more traction once it is integrated into the chipset but honestly for years USB 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 were a separate chip on the board [anyone remember the VIA USB chips?] and nobody complained nor did that stop USB from taking over the world of peripherals.

Asus it seems also remembers these days as they are planning a new boards with both USB 3.0 and SATA 6G for the X58 and P55. We were able to get a hold of some early specs for the P55 board, the P7P55D E Premium. This is the same board that had its pictures leaked to the internet this morning. The USB 3.0 will be powered by an NEC D720200F1 chip that supports 2 ports on the back I/O panel.

Of course you can expect the usual plethora of Asus only Features like Turbo V and Asus EPU. It should also have a 48-Phase design like the current P7P55D. At the time of writing there was no official launch date for this board but we are hearing that it should be very soon.
