Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: October 14, 2025

Our Promise in One Line

We tell you what’s best for readers, not what’s best for advertisers. How we make money never decides our reviews, ratings, or recommendations.

How Bright Side of News (BSN) Makes Money

We fund our journalism through three main channels:

  1. Display Advertising
Banner ads and similar placements may appear across our pages. These are sold or served by ad partners and are separate from editorial. Ads are designed to be visually distinct from articles.
  2. Affiliate Links
Some guides and reviews include links to retailers. If you click those links and buy something, we may earn a commission. This does not change the price you pay and does not influence our product picks or verdicts. We include a short, on-page disclosure near commercial links (example below).
  3. Sponsored Content / Paid Collaborations
Occasionally, a brand funds specific content or a section within a page. When that happens, we label it clearly, explain the brand’s role, and keep it separate from normal editorial coverage. Sponsored pieces follow advertising standards (e.g., FTC in the US) and are marked so you can tell at a glance.

We may also license our content or data where appropriate. None of these revenue streams allow sponsors or affiliates to alter our conclusions.

Our Editorial Firewall

Our editorial team operates with full independence.
Here’s what that means in practice:

  • Editors and writers do not accept money or gifts to change coverage or outcomes.
  • Sales, partnerships, and affiliate operations are separate from editorial.
  • Affiliate opportunities do not determine what we cover or recommend.
  • Review decisions, scores, and “best” lists are set by the editorial team using documented criteria and testing where applicable.

Bottom line: Money never buys our opinion.

Labels You’ll See (and What They Mean)

We use consistent labels so you always know who funded what:

  • “Affiliate links” (inline note): A short line near commercial links such as:
“If you buy via links, we may earn a commission.”
Links to a fuller disclosure (this page).
  • “Sponsored” / “Sponsored By [Brand]”: Editorial content produced by BSN that is financially supported by a partner. The partner may align on topic/angle, but does not review or approve the article before publication. Any sponsored section within a larger article is labeled at the section level.
  • “Sponsor Content Created With [Brand]”: Commercial content created in collaboration with a brand or our commercial studio. It is not standard editorial, and is labeled at the top of the page.
  • “Preferred Partner”: A commercial partner offering BSN a preferential affiliate rate in exchange for more prominence (e.g., highlighting a specific deal). Editors still choose products based on reader value and testing, not on commission rates.

We keep label design and placement consistent across the site so you can spot them quickly (header/above headline or at the top of the relevant section).

Our Testing & Reviews Approach

Our reviews are based on independent testing, in-house analysis, and real-world usage.
We disclose test methods, tools, and version numbers whenever applicable.
When products are provided for testing, we state this openly, and samples never guarantee coverage or positive reviews.

Compliance: How We Mark Links and Ads

  • We comply with FTC Endorsement Guides (US) and comparable standards elsewhere to ensure disclosures are clear and conspicuous.
  • For paid links or sponsored placements, we use appropriate attributes (e.g., rel=”sponsored” or rel=”nofollow”), in line with Google’s link policies.
  • Ads are styled to be clearly distinguishable from editorial content (layout, typography, and labels).

Pricing & Accuracy Notes

We strive to display current pricing and availability from reputable retailers, but prices can change and may include additional costs (e.g., shipping, taxes). Always check the retailer’s page for the most up-to-date information.

How to Spot a Disclosure During Reading

We place a short disclosure near the first commercial link or button in buying guides and product roundups. Example:

“If you purchase through links in this article, we may earn a commission. Learn more.”
That “Learn more” points back to this policy page.

Changes to This Policy

We review and update this page at least twice a year. Any future changes will be reflected here with an updated “Last Updated” date.
